The 'Natural Salesperson'I was flying down to London and I'd got an exit seat facing the stewardess who sits on the bulkhead seat during take off and landing. This particular young lady had an attractive smile and was chatty with it. She started talking to a girl sitting on her own across the aisle from me. They discussed what each was going to be doing for Christmas. The girl revealed she was a student going home for the holidays. After a little more conversation, she said: 'I went to university because I didn't feel ready for work.' The stewardess replied: 'I started work because I wasn't ready to study.' Yesterday I was thinking about the difference in attitude crystallised in those remarks. The student appeared not to be terribly sociable, and according to her own words, without enthusiasm or particular goals for the world of work. The stewardess on the other hand was obviously an outgoing, type with ambitions and too much vitality to accept the restrictions of the student life.
